Creating a contemporary home

This charming two-storey house nestled in the Laurentians needed a makeover. The Vigneaults wanted to create the perfect environment for teleworking and their busy family life, so they decided to invest in their property. They were considering several major home renovation projects to bring it back to its former glory!

With the amount of work ahead of them, the homeowners turned to one of our Verified Contractors for help. The couple and their two young daughters can now enjoy a stunning contemporary interior with an open floor plan. It’s a breath of fresh air in the midst of a pandemic!

Before the renovation

Dark and outdated kitchen with wooden cabinetry, black countertops, stainless steel appliances, and gallery wall of children's artwork

While every room on the ground floor was renovated, the most notable change took place in the kitchen.

The original 10 × 11 ft. space was functional, but the black countertops and wood cabinets made it feel a lot smaller and darker than it was. Plus, the lack of lighting was not helping. Thankfully, the construction team was able to transform the style and optimize the space. They took down the cupboards, removed the dark counters, and bid farewell to the old beige tiles. The family’s new contemporary home was within reach!

“It was a genuine pleasure to collaborate with RenoAssistance,” stated Étienne Vigneault. “We truly felt supported and confident throughout the project. Our Advisor made herself available and really listened to us, which further enhanced our experience. The work lived up to our expectations, and the contractor we chose was perfect for what we wanted to achieve. Several myths were debunked during the renovation project: there were no surprises, and the project was completed on time and on budget.”

White takes the spotlight!

The Vigneault family wanted their kitchen to be bright, so they opted for a light palette that drew attention to key details. The matte white cabinets and backsplash bounce light around the room, and the glittering gold hardware draws the eye. In addition, the honey-coloured hardwood floors ground the space perfectly. These warm tones were also sprinkled throughout the home to create unity.

Nothing was overlooked in this major renovation project. From the new stove hood and discreet recessed lighting to the stunning black sink and faucets, each element works together to create an elegant kitchen. To complete the look, the contractors replaced 11 window frames on the main floor. They now blend in seamlessly with the white walls and ceilings!

A warm welcome

Over in the family room, there’s a magnificent floor-to-ceiling media centre with open and closed storage. The large shelves let the homeowners show off their favourite books, photos, and knickknacks, while the cabinets hide away less-used items, electronics, and extra blankets. Not only does it keep clutter to a minimum, but it also creates a contemporary feel in the room. However, as stunning as it is, the real star of the show is the electric fireplace. Just look at the details on that mantle!

A sparkling bathroom

The contractors also transformed the main bathroom. After clearing out the 14 × 6 ft space, they brought in several new fixtures. They installed not only a freestanding bath but also a glass corner shower with DensShield tile panels. Plus, there’s a niche to organize the toiletries!

For the finishing touches, they brought in a floating vanity, beige ceramic floor tiles, and a light above the mirror. There’s also a new ventilation system as well as a thermostat, electrical outlets, and recessed lighting. All in all, this major renovation project was a success!

The Vigneault family is delighted with their contemporary home. All family members were actively involved in the project and can now enjoy a new environment that lives up to their expectations. However, the adventure isn’t over yet – another renovation is coming soon!
