This basement transformation was just one piece of a larger full-home renovation for this Ahunstic duplex. The goal was to give a completely new life to this otherwise underutilized space.
The homeowners wanted not only to update their home, but allow for more functionality, to get the most out of their house. The addition in the basement allowed for the addition of more bedrooms, as a well as a billiards and TV corner, perfect for entertaining. The existing kitchenette was updated and given more practical use. New shaker style cabinets and a ceramic backsplash gave the kitchenette a more modern look. In the bathroom, the homeowners were really impressed with the wood vanity with black metal fixtures and large sink that gave the room a rustic feel. The mix of textured white tile in the shower-tub and grey rectangular tiles on the floor tied the whole space together. The backlit mirror was also a great touch — these are a hot trend right now!
Among the work performed by the selected Verified Contractor was demolition, creation of a 36 “x 84” opening in the foundation, new insulation, new divisions, fabrication of a false flooring, laying a gypsum ceiling, building a cherrywood staircase, installing sliding doors, laying tile, painting and more.
