From a 1980s styled & terribly maintained bathroom to a fresh contemporary look. This basement bathroom went through a complete transformation. The previous homeowners did not upkeep this bathroom at all, so it was time for the new ones to give it a lot of love. The Robbio family decided on a modern and timeless look for their bathroom.

The rather large ceramic shower with its tempered-glass door definitely catches the eye as you walk in. Although it runs along the wall like most 3-walled showers, it was custom built (in terms of look & functionality) to fit the family’s needs. The contractor first worked on the shower’s base by installing a water-proofing membrane. The homeowners then asked to get a cubby hole within the shower’s back wall to have a designated space for shampoo bottles, soaps, etc. – a great practical element to add when undergoing a bathroom renovation! As for the fittings, the family opted for a nickel-finished thermostatic shower column with massage jets & a waterfall feature. They were looking for the optimal relaxation and sensory experience.

A vanity with a built-in sink was also installed in the bathroom. The single-holed faucet fits perfectly with the look of the shower’s fittings & the vanity works as a great, and practical, accent piece.

As there are no windows to let in natural lighting, finding the right lighting soltion was key for the homeowners. They opted for LED pot-lighting for the entire bathroom. They even installed a special-made & water resistant one for the shower.

This bathroom remodel required full demolition of the old bathroom, plumbing installation, gypsum board installation, proper joint sealing, painting, and detail finishing (such as installing the vanity, floor and door molding, and more).

The various materials, such as the tiling and nickel-finished fittings, definitely give this bathroom a unique and wonderful look. Considering working with an interior designer is always a great idea. They can help bring your ideas to life, all while keeping functionality in mind.
