Subtle and stylish basement renovation
When it comes to renovation projects, basements are often neglected. And yet, they have so much potential! The Bennani family realized they could create a space that the whole family could enjoy, so they hired one of our 53-point Verified Contractors to help.
The family wanted to optimize their 525-square-foot space, so they changed the layout. They also demolished the old bathroom and rebuilt a larger one with extra amenities. Now, the basement is much more functional, and the contemporary décor brightens up each room. There’s even a family room and home gym! Let’s check out the details of their project.
A cozy family room
When you walk into this renovated basement, two words come to mind: bright and welcoming! Daylight floods into this family room. Each feature has been carefully selected, from the recessed lights and white paint to the contemporary furniture.
The Bennani family now has a modern, spacious, and secluded area that almost makes you want to whisper. It’s also worth noting that acoustic tiles were installed in most areas of the room to prevent noise from coming in or out. So, you can say goodbye to distracting footsteps, ambient sounds from the TV, and the clang of pots from upstairs. It’s a fantastic option when you want some privacy when watching films or spending time with friends.
A bright and modern bathroom
This bright basement also has a brand-new bathroom! It features a 48-inch floating vanity, a modern toilet, and a ceiling fan with LED lights. But the star of the show is the beautiful walk-in shower – a 48 by 32 inch space with glass doors and ceramic walls. Over by the floating vanity hangs a smart mirror. It plays your favourite songs, updates you on the news, tells you the weather forecast, and so much more. Lastly, the two recessed lights above enhance each and every detail of this modern bathroom. Without a doubt, this room is a showstopper!
Rinse and repeat
To expand the original bathroom, the contractor had to take down the wall between it and the existing laundry room. The effect is simply wow! The Bennani family can now access everything in one place and take advantage of the extra storage. To complete the look, the contractor tucked the HVAC system away in a room of its own, behind a wooden door.

Last but not least, the contractors built a home gym. The Bennani family now has the privilege of working out in a bright, airy space featuring freshly painted walls and ceilings. Add in some quality exercise equipment and it’s enough to get you moving!
